On April 20, 2023, Kinsley White, a six-year-old American girl, was shot and wounded after attempting to retrieve a ball from the front lawn of a house in Gastonia, North Carolina. White's father, Jamie White, was shot in the back while attempting to aid his wounded daughter, and was admitted to the hospital in critical condition.[1] Kinsley White is a kindergartener at H.H. Beam Elementary School.[2]
Accused[edit]
A 24-year-old man was charged in connection with the shooting on April 21, 2023. He fled to Florida, where he later turned himself in and is charged with four counts of attempted murder, two counts of assault with a deadly weapon and one count of possession of a firearm by a felon.[3]
