Babitha, known by her stage name Shruthi Raj, is a young upcoming Indian film actress who is primarily known for her works in Kannada films along with a few Telugu cinema. Her debut in the Kannada film industry started with the movie Neenyare in 2008. Her debut in the television serial Khushi, which was aired on Star Suvarna in 2015, and she received the Suvarna Parivar Bubbly Heroine Award in the same year.
Biography
Shruthi was born in Davanagere, Karnataka, to Raja and Indramma into a Telugu-Kannada speaking family. She completed her schooling in Davanagere and Bangalore.[1]
Career
In 2007, Shruthi was auditioned for a lead role in Neenyare. During her schooldays she was invited to pursue a career in acting by director Sindesh, starring in his debut movie. The movie started in the year 2007 with continuous shooting along with studies and was released in 2008.[2]
After a gap of almost two years, in 2010 she appeared in a sister role in Vaare-vah movie.[3]
There was a sharp turn in Shruthi's career after 2012 when she got a role as a sister with Hat-trick hero Shiva Rajkumar (Shivanna) in Bhajarangi directed by Harsha (director) which released in 2013 and turned out to be an industry blockbuster. Later she acted in Hai Krishn] movie in 2012.[4] This movie was released in the year 2016 because of the accidental death of the movie's hero.[5]
In 2014 Shruthi debuted in Tollywood movie AK Rao PK Rao along side Thagubothu Ramesh and Dhanraj.[6] She appeared in a second Telugu movie Mana Kurralle directed by Veera Shankar Bairisetty.[7] Although she acted first in the Telugu movie Vegam along side Suman (actor), Kota Srinivasa Rao, Posani Krishna Murali, Karthik (actor) this movie was yet to be released.[8] In the same year she also appeared in Kannada movie Parinaya along side Chandan Gowda.[9]
In 2015 Shruthi appeared in Rudra Tandava with Chiranjeevi Sarja and Krishna (Kannada actor) and also in a horror movie Neralu with Akash.[10] She acted in Telugu film Yes.[11]
After taking a couple of years break she again appeared in Devrantha Manushya with Bigg Boss Kannada (season 4) winner Pratham (Kannada actor) with a love story as the subject.[12] She appeared in Odeya (film) with Darshan (actor) and Yashas Surya.[13]
Serial
Shruthi started her career in the television industry in association with Suvarna channel with a serial named Khushi in 2014.[14] She achieved the Suvarna Parivar Bubbly Heroine Award with her bubbly performance. She has acted in a couple of serials like Jokali in Udaya TV and yelli manavu jarithu Kasthuri (TV channel) in a lead role.
Advertisements
In 2013 Shruthi debuted in an advertisement for Nandini Dairy[15] with Puneeth Rajkumar. In 2016 she appeared in JustAdz.[16] In 2018 she appeared in Druthi Masala, later it was done by Rachita Ram.[17] In 2019 Shruthi first appeared in a Tamil jewellery ad by SS JEWELLERS.[18]
Personal life
Shruthi got engaged to Software Engineer Karthik Malli from Nellore district on 04 November 2020. They got married on 22 November 2020 and she became a daughter-in-law of Andhra Pradesh, making her motherland Karnataka.
