Soap2day (stylised as SOAP2DAY) was a series of copyright infringing websites that provide media like TV shows and movies for free without registration.[1] It was launched in 2018,[2] and closed in 2023.[3]
History[edit]
The service was first indexed by Google in January 2018.[4]
In June 2020, the service's main domain was reportedly delisted from Google's search engine.[5] The service has long been a subject of controversy due to its ignorance of copyright laws and multiple incidents where its domains have been blocked by ISPs.[6]
In July 2021, major ISPs like Sky, BT, TalkTalk and Virgin were ordered by the UK high court to block access to dozens of copyright-infringing websites, including Soap2day.[7][8]
On June 13th, 2023, the Soap2day Team updated all Soap2day domains with the message:
"Hello guys:
We have decided to close soap2day forever.
We are very sorry :)
Bye"[3]
