The Society for the Advancement of Management Studies (SAMS) is a British charity, established in 1963 by Professor Grigor McClelland. It also provides a governance structure for the Journal of Management Studies and redistribute the revenues generated by the journal. The charity is managed from an office based at Durham University.[4]

It collaborates with the British Academy of Management to provide a number of grants.[5][6][7]One of those grant is destined to foster the community and fund workshops[8] on topics such as qualitative research at the University of Liverpool[9] or on innovation and entrepreneurship at Arizona State University[10]. The capacity building grant is designed to provide support for large scale projects.[11]

It also attributes every year the Grigor McClelland Best Dissertation award in organization studies[12][13], in collaboration with the European Group for Organizational Studies (EGOS), the association editing Organization Studies.[14] In 2018, the award was won by Pedro Monteiro[15] and in 2019 by Corinna Frey.[16]
