Sri Sathya Sai Baba Center of Manhattan
The Sri Sathya Sai Baba Center of Manhattan (also referred to as the Manhattan Sai Center or Manhattan Sai Baba Center) is a Sai Center within the USA Sathya Sai Organization running out of the borough of Manhattan in New York City. Under the direction of Sathya Sai Baba, it was established in 1976 as a service organization to run devotional programs and service projects. Their projects have been covered by several New York news outlets.[1]
Their Healthy Harlem Food Service runs every Wednesday evening in Harlem and feeds up to 200 people for free each week. Their Bowery Food Service and River Food Service projects run every Saturday and similarly feed over 300 people for free. Other projects include monthly services in the Coler-Goldwater Specialty Hospital for both new and old patients and these are run completely by volunteer effort.[2]
Other notable events the Center has participated in include the regular USA Walk for Values including the 2009 walk which was hosted in New York City [3]
The Center also runs weekly devotional programs and as per guidelines of the Sathya Sai Organization these are provided free of cost and feature a varying mix of devotional singing (traditionally referred to as Bhajans), study circles, meditation sessions, guest speakers and other programs designed around the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba.[4]
