Stephanie Chard is an American entrepreneur. She is the Founder and CEO of Pelago and President of Pelago Foundation, as well as the former CEO of The Training Table. Stephanie founded Pelago in October 2016 in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Early Life and Education

Stephanie was born in Salt Lake City, Utah, and attended preparatory school at Rowland Hall in Salt Lake City, Utah.[1] Stephanie began volunteering with Youthlinc in 2006 and volunteered both locally and internationally. [2] Stephanie was involved in athletics and was the Number 1 Singles Tennis Champion for Utah 2A and a former Number 1 Doubles Title as a Freshman, while also swimming and playing water polo for Rowland Hall. [3]

Career

Stephanie attended University of San Diego, where she graduated cum laude in Finance with minors in Biology & Chemistry.[4] Upon graduation, Stephanie moved back to Salt Lake City, Utah, to begin applications to Medical School. It was during this time Stephanie began working for The Training Table Restaurants. Instead of attending Medical School, Stephanie purchased 50% of The Training Table Restaurants in 2012 and began spearheading major changes, including renovations of all restaurants. [5] During 2015, Stephanie became aware of misconduct between various individuals associated with The Training Table Restaurants. [6][7][8] At this time, Stephanie came up with the idea for Pelago. [9]

Stephanie founded Pelago in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 2016.[10] Stephanie's inspiration for Pelago came from her frustration both as a job seeker and as a hiring manager. [11] Stephanie discovered there was no user-friendly platform that facilitated job seekers and hiring managers to exchange information and connect in a user-friendly and expedited way. [12] Stephanie also found that the traditional means of job seeking was not always positive and generally frustrating, creating a negative association with the job searching process.[13]

Pelago Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit which focuses on educational opportunities, scholarships, and community development projects worldwide.[14] The funding for Pelago Foundation comes from Pelago, as a portion of all Pelago profits go to support the Foundation. Pelago’s core values center around developing a positive job searching experience while contributing to the community at large through the Pelago Foundation. [15]
