Hodgson qualified as a chartered accountant and chartered tax adviser, beginning his career at Deloitte and progressing into senior roles in international tax strategy. At Entain, he leads tax policy across global markets and serves as Chair of the Betting and Gaming Council’s tax committee.[2]

He is a member of the European Gaming and Betting Association’s tax working group and a founding member of the Gibraltar Association of Tax Advisers (GATA).[3]

In 2024, Hodgson commented on the UK government’s decision to avoid new gambling taxes, calling the move “sensible” and advocating for open consultation on online tax reform.[4]

City of London

In 2025, Hodgson was elected to the Court of Common Council, the governing body of the City of London Corporation. His election was part of a broader independent surge in the City’s civic politics.[5]

He serves on various Corporation committees and engages in civic development. His civic leadership includes tax policy consultation, livery involvement, and heritage preservation. Hodgson also serves as honorary treasurer of the historic parish church, St James Garlickhythe.[6]

Hodgson is the Clerk (chief officer) of the Guild of Young Freemen, where he oversees the Guild’s administration, outreach, and ceremonial activities.[7] His leadership has been credited with modernising the Guild’s engagement with young professionals in the City.
