Stick&Bow is a Montreal-based duo, founded in 2018, where cello and marimba are paired.[1]. They are most known for their interpretation of Paranoid Android published in 2019[2]. Their latest album released by Analekta (with Luc Beauséjour) in 2021, "Bach: Trio Sonatas, BWV 525-527 for Harpsichord, Marimba & Cello" has accumulated over 3 million streams.
Musical Universe[edit]
The members of the ensemble are Canadian Krystina Marcoux (marimba) and Argentine Juan Sebastian Delgado (cello) who met in Montreal at McGill University[3][4][5]. They are classically trained musicians who play a variety of styles from rock to tango, with a repertoire that includes music by Radiohead, Nina Simone, Bach and Schumann, as well as original pieces by contemporary composers[6][7].
In addition, they work with living composers on new works commissioned for this duo: Luis Naón, Louise Jallu, Marcelo Nisinman, Camille Pépin, Luna Pearl Woolf and Jason Noble[8].
Musicians[edit]
First prize winner of the Latin American Cello Competition (2008), Juan Sebastian Delgado holds a doctorate in cello performance from McGill University, which he completed under the direction of Matt Haimovitz with a focus on contemporary music and Nuevo Tango[9][10]. Juan also studied at the Boston Conservatory and has performed a variety of research and creation projects in 25 different countries[11][12].
Krystina Marcoux, graduated from the Conservatoire de musique Gatineau, then won the first prize in the OSM competition (2012), she holds a doctorate from the Conservatoire national supérieur de musique de Lyon[13][14]. In 2018 and 2019, she participated in the European tour of Quebec singer Pierre Lapointe. In August 2019, she makes her debut as a marimba soloist with the OSM, under the direction of Kent Nagano[14][15].
Their music has taken them from Banff to Colombia, through Armenia, Italy, the United States, Ecuador and France.
They have been selected as one of Jeunesses Musicales Canada's "emerging young artists" for the 2019 & 2020 and 2021 & 2022 seasons[16]. They have performed at festivals including Festival Classica, Le Festival Musique du Bout du Monde, and the Montreal Bach Festival[17]. In the spring of 2022 they will be participating in a tour in france with over 20 performances with JM France.

Résonance[edit]
Stick&Bow released its first album in 2019, includes 13 diverse works by well-known and obscure composers including Bach, Bartók, Piazzolla, Nina Simone, Paco De Lucia and Radiohead[18]. Resonance was chosen as one of 16 albums to discover in 2019 by Radio-Canada[14][15][19]
Bach: Trio Sonatas, BWV 525-527 for Harpsichord, Marimba & Cello[edit]
A collaboration with harpsichordist Luc Beauséjour. The album was released in April 2021 on the Analekta label[20]. Since it's launch, it has accumulated over 3 million streams.
Studio Piccolo Sessions[edit]
Recorded at Studio Piccolo in the heart of Montreal, relased in 2021, this audio release accompanies a series of five videos featuring works by: Sting, Pau Casals, Luis Naon, Jason Noble and Carlos Puebla.
Revirado[edit]
In prelude to the release of the album "Piazzolla, Beytelmann: Veni, Vola, Veni" expected on June 3, 2022, Gustavo Beytelmann and Stick&Bow present the single, on April 7th, 2022, Revirado. This work was composed in the 70s by Astor Piazzola for his quintet (bandoneon, violin, piano, electric guitar and double bass). This version is arranged by Gustavo Beytelmann for vibraphone, piano and cello.
