StorageCraft Technology Corporation is a Utah company that specializes in business continuity software, including data protection and disaster recovery.[1] It is the manufacturer of a backup and system-restore program ShadowProtect. The company is headquartered in Draper, Utah, U.S.A., with offices in Sunnyvale, California, as well as Ireland and Australia.[4]

History[edit]

StorageCraft was founded as a start-up in 2003[weasel words], by Scott Barnes, Curt James, James Kirby, Brandon Nordquist, Thomas R. Shreeve, and former CEO, Thomas J. Shreeve.[5][6][7][8]

The Boston-based private equity firm TA Associates invested $187 million in StorageCraft in early 2016 and hired Matt Medeiros as the new CEO.[9][10][5][4]

In September 2016, StorageCraft acquired intelligent recovery and data access software solutions from Madison, WI-based Gillware Data Services, for an undisclosed amount.[11][12] StorageCraft did not acquire all of Gillware. Gillware Data Recovery, which focuses on recovery of data from failed storage devices rather than data backup[13], is a separate business unit and will remain independent.[11]

In January 2017, StorageCraft  expanded into hardware products, acquiring data management company Exablox, Inc.[14][15][16]

Software[edit]

The company provides hardware and software products and services that assist in recovering and protecting files, servers, and virtual environments during and after failure.[6][17][7] Its suite of applications are local and cloud-based, and include SaaS and other cloud solutions.[4][18][19]
