Sunrise Beyond Inc. (Japanese: 株式会社SUNRISE BEYOND) is a Japanese animation studio founded in 2019 by Sunrise as one of its new subsidiaries that specializes in the creation of anime, after they had Xebec production operations transferred to them in a transaction with IG Port.
History[edit]
In November 20, 2018 IG Port announced that they sold their subsidiary Xebec, more exactly most of its production operations to Sunrise after years in deficit on its main animation business, while revenue from licensing wasn't making up to the loss.[1][2] In January 2019, IG Port announced that Sunrise was planning to create a new company with the production operations acquired from Xebec on the same address the company used to be.[3]
In March 2019, Sunrise announced that they have established a new company called Sunrise Beyond at Xebec's current address with Xebec's current operations being transferred to it, while other of their operations like post-production remained with IG Port and were broken up, with the coloring department transferred to Signal.MD and the division XEBECzwei transferred to Production I.G and renamed IGzwei. Sunrise producer Masakazu Ogawa is the company's president, while the interim board members include Sunrise president Makoto Asanuma, Xebec president Nobuyoshi Habara, and Sunrise board member Naoya Masaki.[4]
