SweetCare, Serviços e Produtos de Saúde, Lda. (trading as SweetCare) is a privately-held Portuguese e-commerce company specializing in beauty, skincare, and wellness products.[1] The company is headquartered in Porto, Portugal and operates internationally, offering a range of cosmetics, personal care, and wellness products from both global and niche brands.[1]
Founded in 2008, SweetCare is one of the first online beauty retailers in Portugal and has been featured in European growth rankings.[2]
History
SweetCare was founded in 2008 by Susana Guimarães and Sérgio Faria, a Portuguese couple with experience in architecture, design, and online entrepreneurship.[1] The couple had previously operated Inexistência, an interior architecture business that launched one of Portugal's earliest e-commerce sites in 2002.[1] Building on this experience, they developed SweetCare as the first online multi-category beauty and wellness store in Portugal, later expanding worldwide.[1]
Business model
SweetCare operates as a direct-to-consumer e-commerce platform through its websites, sweetcare.pt and sweetcare.com.[3] The company’s catalog includes products from hundreds of brands, covering categories such as skincare, haircare, makeup, fragrances, wellness and health.[4]
SweetCare offers multilingual support and global shipping.[5] It combines digital innovations such as augmented reality (AR) and artificial intelligence (AI) with guidance from its in-house pharmaceutical team.[6] The company also provides educational content through its official blog, SweetMag, and shares additional resources like webinars and tutorials via social media and digital platforms.[6]
Sustainability
SweetCare incorporates environmental and social responsibility concerns into its operations, for example, the use of biodegradable packaging with minimal plastic, locally sourced materials inside the Iberian Peninsula, implementation of waste reduction practices and returns, and involvement in local community activities such as partnerships with local charities.[7]
