Rokt is an Australian e-commerce technology company based in New York City. Rokt provides ecommerce technology for companies such as Live Nation Entertainment, AMC Theatres, Uber Eats, Hulu, Lands’ End, Staples Inc, Groupon, Fanatics, GoDaddy, Vistaprint, Uber[1] and HelloFresh.

History[edit]

Rokt was set up in 2012 by Bruce Buchanan, who built the Jetstar franchise across Asia and is on the board of Guzman y Gomez. Rokt Pte Ltd purchased Rocklive, a company founded by former Google senior executive Justin Viles, who then joined Buchanan as co-founder of Rokt. Buchanan remains CEO of Rokt..[2][3]

In 2013, Rokt was valued at $US50 million ($54.4 million) and received $US8 million in investment from Square Peg Capital (founded by Paul Bassat), Greg Roebuck, Lachlan Murdoch and John Ho.[4]

In 2017, the company acquired CalReply[5] and introduced a new product called Rokt Calendar. In 2018, the company was listed as one of Deloitte’s Fastest Growing tech companies in North America.[6]

In 2019, Rokt acquired OfferLogic.[5] In October 2020, the company received $80 million in Series D financing,[7] passed $100 million in annual revenue, was listed as one of the Best Places to Work.[8]

In 2021, the company received $325 million in Series E financing,[9] achieved unicorn status with a valuation of $1.95B, announced plans to go public in 2023, and was listed as one of the BuiltIns Best Places to Work for the second time.[10]

In 2022, Bill Barton, joined Rokt as Chief Product and Engineering Officer to lead the company's R&D efforts and engineering teams.[11] [12]

Reuters reported in December 2022 that in a secondary funding round Rokt raised its valuation to $2.4 billion led by investment firm Square Peg and asset manager Wellington Management.[13]

Rokt was listed on Fortune’s Best Workplaces in New York 2022 list.[14]
