TRUFF is a brand of chili-based hot sauces and other condiments that contain black truffle or white truffle. The brand is named after the truffles it contains.
History
TRUFF was created by two college students, Nick Ajluni and Nick Guillen, in 2017. The pair met in 2011 at California State University, Fullerton.[2] Ajluni and Guillen managed the Instagram account, @sauce.[3] They began development of the hot sauce in 2015, and officially launched it on their Instagram account in 2017.
Marketing
TRUFF initially used viral marketing to establish the brand through posts on the creators' Instagram account with over 200,000 followers.[4] Since then, TRUFF has collaborated with Taco Bell, Oprah Winfrey, and the brand has sold over 10 million units as of 2020.
Ingredients
TRUFF original hot sauce includes a proprietary pepper blend (Red Chili Peppers, Water, Vinegar, Organic Sugar, Garlic, Salt and black truffle), Organic Agave Nectar, Olive Oil Infused with Black Truffle Essence, Lycopene and Glycerin, Spices and Xanthan Gum.[5]
