Takeshi Takigawa (瀧川 剛史 Takigawa Takeshi, born 16 August 1981) is a Japanese announcer for NHK.
Early life and education[edit]
Takigawa was born in Nara, Nara Prefecture. After experiencing of the Great Hanshin earthquake that occurred on 17 January 1995, he wrote in his junior high school graduation allbum that he "wanted to be an announcer in the future."[1][2] He graduated from the Kindai University Junior and Senior High School and Waseda University Faculty of Political Science and Economics.
While at university, Takigawa joined an announcement study group and practiced pronunciation,[1] but as he took a journalism and participated in an internship at a newspaper company, he became interested in the role of a reporter. When I was inclined to becoming a reporter, he stated that "announcers are also interviewing a lot at NHK",[1] which was a turning point, and he applied to become as an announcer for the broadcaster with hesitation.[1]
Career[edit]
Takigawa joined NHK in April 2004.[3][2] After training, he assigned to NHK's Kyoto Broadcasting Station,[2] where he presents Kyoto News 845.
He later transferred to the broadcaster's Okinawa service[2] where he became caster of Haisai! News 610 from April 2008 to March 2010.
Takigawa later joined NHK's Tokyo Announce Room, and presented NHK News Ohayō Nippon's early hours from April 2011 to March 2014. He also hosted Charis-mama: Mama-tachi no Bijikara Senshuken between October 2013 and March 2014. In April 2014, he became the caster for NHK News 7 during the weekends and holidays until March 2015, where he also presented News 845 in the Kanto region during local holidays. He even took charge of reciting in the radio programme Eigo de Yomu Murakami Haruki from October 2014 to March 2015.
In April 2015, he went to present Shōgo no News during the weekends and holidays until April 2016, where he also presented the local Shutoken News at the same period. During the same month, he moved to present the weekday editions until March 2019.
Takigawa returned to present News 7 as the newsreader during weekdays from April 2017 to March 2019. During the following month, he became the main caster of the programme.[4]
