The "Taliban Gang", also known as the “Hotglocks,” was a violent street gang that has terrorized Pigeon Town neighborhood in New Orleans for years. The gang was tied to several homicides, including a drive-by slaying of a man on the Pontchartrain Expressway in 2011. According to NOPD, members sold drugs, murdered people, shot people, and intimidated people who witnessed these acts. The investigation on the gang, led by the NOPD’s Second District along with the Multi-Agency Gang Unit (MAG-Unit), and the Orleans Parish District Attorney Office, began in 2012. In 2013 a grand jury indicted 8 member of the gang on murder and racktering charges. The 12-count indictment handed up in August 2013 accusing the men of a variety of violent crimes and gang racketeering charges.
