Shri Tarkeshwar Shivalaya Mandir , also called Tareythang Shivalaya Mandir, is a Hindu temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. It is located in Tareythang, Pakyong district, Sikkim, India. It is one of the oldest temple of Sikkim, and is believed to be one of the most sacred temple of sikkim, It is believed that the prayers are fulfilled by Lord Shiva of those devotees, who prays here with clean heart. It was established in 1880's. Initially it was a small temple with temporary type shed. After many years around 1950's the proper structure of temple was made by the devotees.[1][2] [3]

Functioning[edit]

The temple is run by a committee called Tareythang Shivalaya Mandir Sanchalan Samiti. Major Hindu festivals like Navratri, Ramnavami, Janmashtami, Teej, Maha Shivaratri, Shraavan Puja, Vasant Panchami, Makar Sankranti etc are celebrated in the temple premises in a grand manner involving active participation from the devotees.
