The Animation Band is an Italian animation studio and production company. Founded in 1996 by accredited professionals and artists Marco Marcolini and Giuseppe Laganà, the company makes its debut with the production of a cartoon television series, the first in Italy, also starring one of the most famous Italian characters, Lupo Alberto by Silver.

History[edit]

Over the years, it has developed an intense collaboration with the Italian animation maestro Bruno Bozzetto, creating the hilarious animated sitcom The Spaghetti Family awarded the Pulcinella Award at the international animation festival Cartoons on the Bay; moreover, with Bozzetto the Company created the series The Things, the first produced completely in 3D in Italy, made by The Animation Band in co-production with Rai Fiction.

Another important collaboration of the company was that with Grazia Nidasio for the realization of the cartoon series Stefi always with Rai Fiction, also awarded with the Pulcinella Award and whose historical comic, already published in fifteen countries, is popular in Europe.

The Animation Band has been and is engaged in international co-productions such as Loulou de Montmartre and Stellina, series made with Rai Fiction and France 3; Blanche with Rai Fiction and France 5LMN’S, Journey into the Microworld, produced with Rai Fiction and the Spanish televisions TV3 and TVE.

Another important recognition received by the Studio is the Kinèo Diamanti Award at the 2012 Venice International Film Festival for the production of Ulisse, my name is Nobody as Best Animation Product. The series is inspired by Luciano De Crescenzo‘s book Nobody about Homer’s famous hero of ancient Greece.

With the adaptation of the successful fantasy-mythological saga published by Mondadori SpA, whose books are distributed in over twenty countries, The Animation Band has produced the series Girls of Olympus which, in addition to adventure, enhances the values of friendship, family, love and loyalty not only in the fantasy world but also in everyday life.

From conception, pre-production, production to post-production, The Animation Band is able to create any animated product by directly executing the entire production cycle. In addition to its own productions, the company offers production services for third parties and distribution of foreign multimedia products for the Italian market.
