The Great Transition: The Personalization of Finance is Here is a 2022 non-fiction book by Emmanuel Daniel. It maps the development of the finance industry and the influence that decentralized finance has on traditional banking, society, and entire economies.[1]
Overview[edit]
The book was published in September 2022 as The Great Transition: The Personalization of Finance is Here by World Scientific.[2] The book covers the finance industry and its massive transformation, shifting from its platform stage into what Emmanuel Daniel calls the “Personalization of Finance".[3][4]
Synopsis[edit]
This book covers the transition of technology from its platform to personalization phases, with finance at the center of the process.[5] It discusses how traditional finance will finally be transformed by developments in cryptocurrencies, stablecoins and decentralised finance.[6]
Daniel starts the book with a simple allegory of the ice trade in the 1750s and uses it to set the stage for deeper discussions in the book about the personalization of finance.[7] He then traces the transition that traditional banking has made since the 1990s on the balance sheet and in the areas of innovation to set the stage for the transition underway.[8]
The personalization of finance will have a profound effect on how institutions, markets, and societies will need to function in the network age.[9]
Reception[edit]
Former congressman Barney Frank wrote the foreword.[10] The book has attracted positive reviews by Richard Sandor, [11] and Alex Manson, the General Manager of Standard Chartered Bank’s SC Ventures.[12] [13]
The book has been reviewed by The Fintech Times editorial director Mark Walker[14] [15] and The Financial Brand’s co-publisher Jim Marous.[16] [17] It has also been reviewed by Kirkus Reviews. [18]
