"The Menu" is the twenty-seventh episode in the fifth season of The Amazing World of Gumball, and the 183rd episode overall. It originally aired on Cartoon Network in the United States, on March 6, 2017. In this episode, Richard attempts to eat at every Joyful Burger joint in an hour, in order to unlock access to a new, unique burger.
Plot[edit]
While sleeping on the couch, Richard quickly wakes up and runs to the mall when he hears Gumball say there is a secret menu at the burger joint, Joyful Burger. Once there, Gumball explains that there is an urban legend of a secret burger, that hasn't been invented yet, but will, when someone orders it at Joyful Burger.
At the burger joint, Richard and the kids attempt to guess the burger's name but fail. Richard tells Gumball and Darwin that the only way they can get the name of the burger is if someone works at the joint, and is trusted enough to be told its name. Gumball and Darwin get jobs at Joyful Burger, become CEO's, and sell their company shares to buy a mansion, forgetting to ask for the burger's name. Along with Richard, the kids decide to kidnap Larry, and try to force him to tell them the name of the secret burger. He refuses to say the name but tells them that the secret burger can be theirs if someone eats at every Joyful Burger joint in Elmore, in under an hour.
Richard attempts the challenge and manages to eat at every joint. Back with Larry, he is given the M'Guffin, a similar burger with double the ingredients. Richard tries to eat it, but can't, as his mouth is too full from all the burgers he ate in the past hour.

"The Menu" was directed by Antoine Perez and Mic Graves, and was written by Ben Bocquelet, alongside 3 different writers. The episode was also the 25th episode storyboarded by Wandrille Maunoury.
Reception[edit]
On its original broadcast, the episode was viewed by 0.98 million people.[1]
In 2020, "The Menu" was ranked 221st out of the 240 total The Amazing World of Gumball episodes, with a rating of 7.3/10, based on 66 reviews.[2]
