The Tarn Group (previously Siliconcoach) is a New Zealand owned and operated software company. When originally created, Siliconcoach aimed to help athletes identify areas for improvement in their performance with a video-analysis tool.[1][2] The Tarn Group now delivers digital solutions in sports, health, education and retail and their products and services have been sold globally.[3]

History[edit]

The Tarn Group was founded in 1997 by New Zealander Joe Morrison, previously having completed 6 years of army training and gaining a Masters in Biomechanics from the University of Otago he used his biomechanics skills to create the video–capture software program Siliconcoach. Originally aimed to help athletes identify areas for improvement, the application of video analysis soon grew to aid other areas.

Bracken[edit]

Bracken is a digital training platform created by The Tarn Group, it is their largest brand.

Siliconcoach[edit]

Siliconcoach is a video analysis tool that provides video based review, feedback and sharing for all. Created in 1997 it is the Tarn Groups oldest brand. [5][6][7]

Prosthetic and Orthotic (PnO) Data Solutions[edit]

PnO clinically uses The Tarn Groups software to help Orthotic and Prosthetic professionals document, collaborate, and justify their clinical decisions.

Dialed in Motion[edit]

Dialed in Motion is a video analysis tool designed specifically for bike fitting and sport shoe fitting.[8][9]

Arinui[edit]

The Tarn Group worked alongside Education Technology Ltd, to create Arinui, a teacher appraisal system that allows teachers to critically reflect on their practice.
