Isaac Butterfield (born July 14th, 1993), also known by his online name Thebuttsmarn, is the son of Tony Butterfield a former Australian professional rugby league footballer. Butterfield is an Australian YouTuber and stand-up comedian.[1][2][3], with a following of almost 1,200,000 YouTube subscribers.[4]
Career[edit]
Butterfield joined YouTube on January 23rd 2012, though he started uploading videos on June 2nd 2016. His most popular video is currently 10 Reasons Not To Visit Australia (Aussie Reacts)[5][6] with 4.3 million YouTube views.
He has gone on the following stand-up comedy tours around Australia:
In support of his debut stand-up special "The Butterfield Effect",[9] which he released on 15th May 2019 through his own website and merchandise store.[10][11] The Butterfield Effect was also released on Amazon Prime Video[12]
Known for his lofty 6'8" tall, heavily bearded appearance. He has developed a large fan base on his YouTube channel,[4][13] Twitter,[14] Facebook,[15] Instagram[16] and Patreon[17] accounts.
Popular themes on his channel include the catchphrases: "be a good motherf*cker" and "me dick stinks", as well as his implied dislike of vegans and cyclists. Notable examples include his clashes and replies to Youtubers, vegan Leanne Ratcliffe aka Freelee the Banana Girl and vegan cyclist Harley Johnstone aka Durian Rider.[18]
Isaac's videos which now total over 190, are added twice a week to his YouTube channel. He has announced an international tour of "Why so serious?"[19][20]
Reception and controversy[edit]
In 2019 streaming service Netflix cancelled a deal with Butterfield to produce his comedy special The Butterfield Effect due to controversy surrounding jokes made by Butterfield about the Holocaust[13][21]
Isaac Butterfield's video ‘The actual differance between Australia and New Zealand’ was taken down by Facebook. He Appeared on New Zealand Project as a guest.[22]
