Thierry Delaporte (born Thierry Dominique Marie François Delaporte on 28 May 1967) is a French business executive who currently serves as the CEO & Managing Director of the Indian IT services company Wipro. Before succeeding Abidali Neemuchwala as Wipro CEO in July 2020, he was the Chief Operating Officer at Capgemini.[2] Delaporte is the first non-Indian CEO in Wipro's history.[3] Delaporte is also the co-founder of Life Project 4 Youth, a not-for-profit organization dedicated to the professional and social integration of young adults living in extreme poverty.[4]

Life and Education

Delaporte was born in France. He studied law at Paris-Sorbonne University (1986-1990) and then graduated from Sciences Po Paris (Institut des Études Politiques de Paris) in 1992, where he majored in Finance and Economy.[5]

Career

Arthur Andersen

Before his stint at Capgemini, Delaporte was an internal auditor at the now defunct audit company Arthur Andersen.[6]

Capgemini

He worked at Capgemini for a total of 25 years from 1995 until 2020. During this time, he held the posts of CEO of Global Financial Services, led their Latin American business unit and served as COO.[7]

Wipro

Delaporte replaced Abidali Neemuchwala as the CEO & Managing Director of Wipro in July 2020.[8] Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Delaporte worked remotely for more than a year and was unable to meet with most of his senior leadership team in person until November 2021.[9] Under Delaporte, Wipro has executed a number of notable acquisitions, including the March 2021 acquisition of London-based tech consultancy Capco in a $1.45 billion dollar deal, the largest acquisition in Wipro's history and the $230 million acquisition of Texas-based cybersecurity firm Edgile in December 2021.[10][11]

Delaporte has focused on sustainability as a key business imperative for Wipro.[12] During his time as CEO, Wipro has joined or founded a number of sustainability and Net Zero initiatives, including the cross-sectoral Net Zero coalition Transform to Net Zero alongside Microsoft, Nike, Inc, Starbucks, Unilever, Maersk, Mercedes Benz, Danone, and the EDF.[13] On Earth Day 2021, Wipro also committed to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040, with an intermittent reduction of 55% by 2030.[14] In October 2021, Wipro's Net Zero plans were certified by the Science-based Targets Initiative.[15]

In FY22, Thierry Delaporte led Wipro to cross $10 billion in annual revenues.[16]

Awards & Recognitions

Delaporte was recognized as Personality of The Year 2022 by the Indo-French Chambers of Commerce & Industry.[17]
