Tino Martin Hammid (January 6 1952 New York CityJuly 11 2015 Los Angeles) was american photographer with Czech origin. His father was photographer and director Alexander Hackenschmied. Tino became famous for his passion for photography, which he realized by photographing precious stones for prestigious companies. He has worked with the Gemological Institute of America, see for example his work on simulated diamonds.[1] [2]

Biography[edit]

He was born on January 6 1952 New York City. His career as a gemstone photographer began at the Gemological Institute of America, where he worked as a freelance photographer from 1980 to 1982. In 1983 he began his freelance photographer career and began working for Modern Jeweler magazine and was preparing every month Gem Profile article. During this time two articles won the Jesse H. Neal Awards from the Association of Business Publishers .

“Tin's iconic photos for Gem Profile captured the unique personality of each stone. In a way, he gave us a university education in precious stones every month. He was an artist of light, ”said Cheryl Kremkow, director of Citrine Media, who worked with him in Modern Jeweler .

In 1987, Tino Hammid acquired as a client Christie’s, for which he photographed more than hundreds of jewelry sales catalogs over the next few years.

Throughout his career, Tino Hammid has contributed hundreds of photographs to other publications and books, including the Handbook of Gemology edition of the Handbook of Gemology, Available online [1]</ref>

Tino Martin Hammid died of colon cancer on July 11, 2015 in Los Angeles. He was 63 years old.[3]
