Toma Kolašinović (Serbia: Тома Колашиновић; Kaniše, c. 1650- April 1694)[1]was a Serbian high-ranking officer, captain of the Serbian Militia in the service of the Habsburg forces against the Ottoman Turks in northern Banat and southern Kosovo regions during the great Turkish War that lasted from 1663 to 1699.[2]

On 23 January 1690 while Lieutenant Colonel Antonije Znorić defeated a Turkish army near Niš. At this same time, the Serbs captured Studenica, looted a lot of cattle in Bijelo Polje, and Captain Toma Kolašinović with 1,500 Serbian and Christian Albanians inflicted hundreds of losses on Mahmud-pasha. [3][4][5] The Austrian and Serbian victory came in the conquest of Pirot on 9 August; Niš was conquered on 9 September 1690. Later on, the tide would turn against them when reinforcement came to the rescue of Köprülüzade Fazıl Mustafa Pasha and the Tatar sword, plague and pestilence came into the equation.[6]
