Thomas Kesselkut (born April 4, 1991), better known as TommyKay, is a German Twitch streamer and YouTuber. He is the largest Hearts of Iron 4 Twitch streamer, with over 278k followers and over 12.5 million views as of March 11, 2023;[2] he also has over 281k subscribers and over 131 million views on YouTube.[3] According to TwitchTracker, Kesselkut sits in the top 250 most subscribed Twitch channels.[4]
Career
Kesselkut began streaming on Twitch in 2017 playing online Poker under the name "TommyKayPoker". He then found fame playing the video game Hearts of Iron IV, where he would often play competitive multiplayer.
He gained popularity in 2019, where he averaged 1000 views per stream. Kesselkut became the largest Hearts of Iron IV streamer that year. He later moved from Halle to Leipzig, Saxony.
In 2021, Kesselkut hosted the Hearts of Iron IV International, a 1v1 tournament with a $5,000 cash prize[5]. He brought on guests such as Drew Durnil,[6] The Armchair Historian,[7] Fabian Hällsten[8] and others. He drew in nearly 15,000 current viewers,[9] a record for the German streamer.
In December 2022, Kesselkut started casting on SPEED 5, a Paradox Interactive company with the goal to make competitive gameplay content.[10]
Military
Kesselkut was conscripted to serve in the Bundeswehr in 2009. He served 9 months, where he noted his incompetence while training[11]. He was not chosen to serve in Afghanistan. He ended with the rank of Obergefreiter.
