Treasure (Hangul: ํธ๋ ์ ; Japanese: ใใฌใธใฃใผ; stylized as TREASURE) is a South Korean boy group formed by YG Entertainment through reality survival program YG Treasure Box and will be the next 4th boy group generation by company. The group consists of 12 members and is set to debut in July 2020.
History
2018-early 2020: YG Treasure Box and pre-debut activities
Junkyu started as a child advertising model in 2010, namely for brands Lotte and Roygen Suits. Yedam appeared on SBS' K-pop Star 2 in 2012 finishing runner-up behind his labelmate Akdong Musician.[1] At a young age, Junghwan joined one of the world's leading taekwondo demonstration team named K-Tigers. In January 2017, Mashiho took on his first acting role through labelmate Akdong Musician's musical short film: ์ฌ์ถ๊ธฐ : ๊ฒจ์ธ๊ณผ ๋ด ์ฌ์ด .[2] On November 21, 2017 Jihoon, Yedam and Doyoung alongside other YG Entertainment trainees at the time appeared on Mnet's Stray Kids as representatives for the label.[3] Within the same period, Hyunsuk and Junkyu competed on JTBC's Mix Nine, finishing in 5th and 35th place respectively.[4]
On November 17, 2018 YG Entertainment unveiled 29 trainees through YG Treasure Box.[5] Haruto, Yedam, Junghwan and Junkyu were first to join the final line-up, followed by Jeongwoo, Jaehyuk and Hyunsuk under the group name Treasure.[6][7] On January 29, 2019 an announcement for a second line-up was disclosed with Yoonbin, Mashiho, Doyoung, Yoshi, Jihoon and Asahi under the name Magnum. The two groups are collectively called "Treasure 13". Before the debut, a series of promotional posters for the group were released from April 29, 2019 onwards.
In late May 2019, Choi Hyunsuk featured on Lee Hi's song "1,2" off her 24ยฐC album, where he participated as a lyricist. [8] On episode 2 of labelmate Kwon Hyun-bin's reality show Kwon Hyun-bin Begins, Haruto and Hyunsuk made a short appearance, followed appearances by Junkyu, Yedam, Hyunsuk, Junghwan and Haruto on episode 3.
On January 6, 2020, YG Entertainment announced that the group will debut as a 12-member team because of departure member Ha Yoonbin terminated his contract with the label on December 31, 2019 to pursue a different musical direction nearing closer to a solo career. Thus both groups were merged and now collectively to be called Treasure, with fandom name Treasure Maker, derived from the name viewers were given of YG Treasure Box.[9][10] On the same day, YG Entertainment launched the official social media accounts such as Twitter, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and VLive. The official Twitter, Instagram and Vlive accounts began to release photos every two weeks, both individual and group with the name of 'Treasure Editorial.
The group also launched a weekly show on YouTube called โTreasure Map' starting on January 17, 2020 which is uploaded every Friday at 12:00PM KST and have 28 eps in total as debut come near. The show features the groupโs daily activities which they call โT-Logโ and also play various games based on famous Korean variety shows. Aside from the weekly Treasure Map episodes, the group also uploads dance performance videos, song covers, TMI (Treasure Maker Interaction), Fact Check, 3-Minute Treasure and T-Talk.
2020: The First Step
On May 12, 2020, YG Entertainment announced that Treasure will debut in July 2020.[11] On May 21, 2020 YG Entertainment announced that Yedam will release a pre-debut single in June prior to the group's debut. It was further stated that Treasure is planning to release new songs 3-4 times beginning July until the end of 2020. [12][13] On May 28, 2020, Treasure officially entered the Billboard Social 50 Chart landing on the 40th spot and became the fastest group on history to chart on Billboard Social 50. They are joined by X1 and SuperM as the only K-pop groups who the chart before their official debut.[14][15]
On June 5, 2020, Yedam released his solo single "WAYO" as a pre-debut track for the group.[16]
On July 20, 2020, the group released a concept teaser video on their YouTube channel.[17] YG Entertainment also announced that Treasure will debut on August 7, 2020.[18]

History
Pre-debut
Jun-kyu started as a child advertising model in 2010, namely for brands Lotte and Roygen Suits. Ye-dam appeared on SBS' K-pop Star 2 in 2012 finishing runner-up behind label-mate Akdong Musician.[2] At a young age, Jung-hwan joined one of the world's leading taekwondo demonstration team, K-Tigers. In January 2017, Mashiho took on his first acting role through labelmate Akdong Musician's musical short film.[3] On November 21, 2017 Ji-hoon, Ye-dam and Do-young alongside other YGE trainees at the time appeared on Mnet's Stray Kids as representatives for the label.[4] Within the same timeframe, Hyun-suk and Jun-kyu competed on JTBC's Mix Nine, finishing in 5th and 35th place respectively.[5]
2018โ2019: YG Treasure Box
On October 29, 2018, YG Entertainment announced the launch of a new survival show for the debut of the agency's newest boy group. A total of 29 trainees would compete, with most between the ages of 14 to 19.[6][7] The show, YG Treasure Box, began airing on November 18 and ended on January 18, 2019.
2019: Treasure, Magnum, Treasure 13
The first four members were announced on the January 18th finale episode: Haruto, Bang Ye Dam, So Jung Hwan, and Kim Jun Kyu.[8] The remaining three members were revealed on Naver V Live broadcasts on January 21, 23, and 25. Park Jeong Woo was announced as the fifth member, followed by Yoon Jae Hyuk (sixth), and Choi Hyun Suk (seventh).[9][10][11] On January 28, YG announced the group will be called TREASURE.[12][13][14]
The following day, Yang Hyun Suk announced that he would form a second group from the show, comprising of six members, to debut after TREASURE. The six members were revealed from January 30 to February 4: Ha Yoon Bin, Mashiho, Kim Do Young, Yoshinori, Park Ji Hoon and Asahi, respectively.[15]
On February 7, reports surfaced that the two groups would be promoting together and separately. It was confirmed later that day on a blog post by Yang Hyun Suk on YG Life's official website.[16] He revealed that the 13 members will first debut as TREASURE 13 before promoting separately into the two groups: TREASURE and MAGNUM. He also explained fanclub's name for all three teams will be called "Treasure Maker". They were expected to debut sometime between May and July.[17]
On July 24, it was reported that their debut has been put on hold after YG Entertainment founder and producer Yang Hyun Suk stepped down from the company following as series of scandals surrounding the company.[18]
2020โpresent: New debut plans
On January 6, YG Entertainment posted a notice on their official website stating the group's future plans. This included re-organizing as a 12-member ensemble after Ha Yoon Bin cancelled his contract on December 31 2019. It was also revealed that the two units, TREASURE and MAGNUM, would be integrated into TREASURE 13 to form a single group to be name simply as TREASURE, with fandom name Treasure Maker, derived from the name viewers were given of YG Treasure Box. The group will hold various unit and solo activities prior to their debut and that YG Entertainment will encourage and support the members to actively participate into the composing and writing of music.[19][20][21]
On January 8, TREASURE released the first set of individual profile photos titled "TREASURE EDITORIAL vol.1" for members Choi Hyun Suk, Jihoon, Yoshi, and Junkyu.[22] This was followed by Mashiho, Yoon Jae Hyuk, Asahi, and Bang Ye Dam on the 9th, and Doyoung, Haruto, Park Jeong Woo, and So Jung Hwan on the 10th. Additional profile photos were released from the 20th to 23rd.[23]
On January 30, the group released a performance film for the track "Going Crazy".[24]
On May 12, YG Entertainment announced via a promotional video that the group would make its debut in July[25]
Philanthropy
Treasure members Hyunsul, Yoshi, Mashiho, Jaehyuk, Asahi, Yedam, Jeongwoo, Doyoung, Haruto, Jeongwoo and Junghwan participated in labelmate senior Sean of Jinusean's charity marathon event Miracle 365 in July and August 2019, where awareness and funds were raised for the disabled.[26]

TREASURE ( Hangul : ํธ๋ ์ ; Japanese: ใ ใฌ ใธ ใฃ ใผ; stylized as TREASURE ), formerly called TREASURE 13 , is a boy band formed by YG Entertainment.[1] through the YG Treasure Box survival program . The group consists of 12 members, who were planned to be sub-divided into two sub-units, Treasure and Magnum . With the departure of Ha Yoon-bin from the company and the group on December 31, 2019, this plan was scrapped and TREASURE was eventually created as a group of 12 male members. TREASURE was said to be ready to debut in mid-2019 despite the initial date being May-July 2019. On January 6, 2020[2], YG Entertainment uploaded a photo of TREASURE with the 12 members to debut. History
Pre-debut: YG Treasure Box
Ye-dam, Ji-hoon and Do-young made their first appearance together in the survival program Mnet[3] , Stray Kids[4] November 21, 2017 as representatives of the label. Within the same period, Hyun-suk and Jun-kyu participated in the program survival JTBC, Mixnine . Both finished in 5th and 35th place respectively. In the following year, YGE announced 29 apprentices through the program survival show YG Treasure Box November 17, 2018. notables including apprentices Bang Ye-dam of K-pop Star 2 , and participants of Mixnine[5],Choi Hyun-suk and Kim Jun-kyu.
In the final, Haruto, Ye-dam, Jung-hwan, and Jun-kyu were the first to join the final lineup, followed by Jeong-woo, Jae-hyuk, and Hyun-suk, under the group name Treasure . In January 29, 2019, an ad for a second alignment was reported. It was revealed that the members were the ones who had not been selected in the final, such as to debut in Treasure, Yoon-bin, Mashiho, Do-young, Yoshinori, Ji-hoon and Asahi under the name Magnum . Both groups are collectively called Treasure 13 , with the official fandom name Treasure Maker derived from the name given to YG Treasure Box viewers. Fans also call themselves ' Teumes' which is short for Treasure Maker's Romanization (Teurejeo Meikeo). Their first schedule as 13 member was on vlive[6]
Before the debut, a series of promotional posters for the group were released from April 29, 2019 onwards. In episode 2 of the reality show for his tag partner Kwon Hyun-bin , Kwon Hyun-bin[7] Begins , Haruto and Hyun-suk made a short appearance, followed by appearances by Jun-kyu, Ye-dam, Hyun-suk, Jung-hwan, and Haruto in episode 3.
Pre-Debut: 2020
From January 7, 2020, the company began to release photos every two weeks, both individual and group with the name of ' Treasure Editorial' . Also, every Friday at 12:00 p.m. KST an episode of ' Treasure Map' premieres . Normally the format is based on famous Korean television shows, such as Knowing Bros , 3 meals a day, Amazing Saturday , etc. Weekly a chapter of ' 3 minutes with Treasure' is released, with a duration of 3 minutes as indicated by the name. Randomly, a chapter of ' TMI' (Treasure Maker Interaction) is released, where they show the behind the scenes of the released materials; and ' T-TALK' where two members ask and answer questions about a specific keyword. So far, 4 versions of ' Going Crazy' have been released : Performance film, Vertical cam, Performance film (emoji ver.) And Vertical Cam (emoji ver). They have also released dance, singing and rap covers .
On the 27th May 2020 Billboard announced the group Treasure entered Billboard Social 50 for the first time, TREASURE was ranked at #40 on the โSocial 50โ chart, making them as fastest kpop group ever to charted on the site before debut[8][9]

Philanthropy
TREASURE members Yoshinori, Mashiho, Yoon Jae-hyuk, Asahi, Bang Ye-dam, Park Jeong-woo, and So Jung-hwan participated in the charity marathon event by Sean from Jinusean,[10] 'Miracle 365' in July and August 2019, where the disabled were raised and raised funds for them.
