Tripalink is an American real estate company headquartered in Los Angeles, California.[1] Founded in 2016 by Donghao Li, the company operates an AI-driven online platform that provides residential leasing and rental services. Tripalink specializes in developing and managing fully furnished, ready-to-move-in co-living spaces, single-family homes, apartments, condominiums, and townhouses.[2][3]

History[edit]

Tripalink was established in 2016 by Donghao Li, who serves as the company's founder and CEO.[4] The company's inception was inspired by Li's experiences as an international student from China renting an apartment during his post-graduation years at the University of Southern California (USC). Li, confronted with challenges in the rental market, set out to develop a solution specifically for student renters,[5] which subsequently broadened its scope to encompass working professionals. Initially focusing on high-end co-living properties, Tripalink designs spaces that balance privacy with enhanced functionality. Its properties are strategically placed near universities and downtown areas.[6]

The company operates properties across various cities, including Los Angeles, Seattle, Philadelphia, Irvine, San Francisco, Austin, Tucson, Pittsburgh, Berkeley, Arizona, and Tacoma, with additional operations in North America, Europe, China, South Korea, and the Philippines.[7][8]

In 2021, Tripalink expanded its portfolio by acquiring Keystone Properties NW in Seattle, which included 14 properties totaling 628 units.[9]

Tripalink currently manages and operates over 12,000 units in 11 North American cities. Additionally, the company has built 102 self-developed apartment projects in six major cities.

Products & services[edit]

Tripalink offers a range of services to students,[10] young adults,[11] professionals, and families seeking affordable housing options. Tripalink helps individuals locate housing options that come with top-notch amenities. The company's platform also allows tenants to make rent payments, submit maintenance requests, engage with community members, and sign up for events.[12]

Tripalink also manages properties for developers and landlords, providing services such as marketing, leasing, property management, apartment design, and data analysis. The company's technology facilitates virtual tours, online lease signing, and streamlined leasing processes, aiming to enhance tenant convenience.[13]

Tripalink primarily generates revenue from rental income, including monthly rent payments that often cover furnishings and utilities. The company also collects management fees from property owners for operational services.[14]

Funding[edit]

Tripalink has received a total of $50 million in venture capital funding since its inception. In October 2018, the company raised $5 million in its seed round. The round was led by K2VC Ventures and UpHonest Capital.[15]

In February 2019, TripaLink raised an additional $5 million, with Calin SJG Fund leading the round and participation from Tekton Ventures and K2VC Ventures. This funding facilitated Tripalink's expansion into Phoenix and Tempe, Arizona.[16][17]

In August 2019, the company secured $10 million in a funding round that included Calin SJG Fund, L.P., K2VC Ventures, Tekton Ventures, and Oriza Venture, achieving a $100 million valuation.[18]

In November 2021, Tripalink raised $30 million in a Series B round led by Altos Ventures, Assurant Ventures, and Conductive Ventures.[19]
