Tristan Welch (born 13 April 1979) is a chef, restaurateur and television personality.

He has appeared on Snackmasters, Cooking With The Stars and Great British Menu and is a keen advocate for reducing food waste.[1]

Early Life

Born in Hitchin in 1979, Tristan is the son of Susan (nee Powell) a hospitality worker and Nicholas Welch an engineer.

Career

Tristan started his culinary career in London, where he trained under Gary Rhodes until 1998 when he joined Le Gavroche working under Michel Roux jr.

He then went on to work at the Michelin starred L'Arpège in Paris.

His first head chef role was at Michelin starred Glenapp Castle & Châteaux Hotel in Ayrshire, Scotland.

Tristan was appointed to head chef at Gordon Ramsay and Marcus Wearing's restaurant Petrus in 2005.

Tristan is currently chef director at Parker's Tavern in Cambridge.

TikTok

Tristan's TikTok channel sees him post tips on how to reduce food waste through thrifty cooking.

His videos have received coverage in the national press.

Television

In 2009 Tristan was a finalist on BBC2’s Great British Menu and he appeared again on the show in 2010.

He made regular appearances on BBC1’s Saturday Kitchen, BBC1’s The One Show and Good Food Channel’s Market Kitchen.
