Ty'Anthony Smith is an American football linebacker for the Texas Longhorns.
Early life and high school
Smith attended Jasper High School in Plano, Texas. Coming out of high school, he was rated as a four-star recruit,[by whom?] and committed to play college football for the Texas A&M Aggies over offers from other schools such as Alabama, Oklahoma, Texas, and USC.[1] However, Smith flipped his commitment on national singing day to play for the Texas Longhorns.[2]
College career
In Week 11 of the 2024 season, Smith recorded his first career interception in a win over Florida.[3] He played in all 16 games that season, recording 16 tackles with one and a half being for a loss, half a sack, and an interception.[4]
In Week 12 of the 2025 season, Smith notched nine tackles with two going for a loss and a sack in a loss against Georgia.[5] In Week 13, he was ejected in the first half on a targeting call versus Arkansas.[6] In the 2025 Citrus Bowl, Smith totaled nine tackles with one being for a loss and two interceptions in a victory against Michigan.[7] He finished the 2025 season, appearing in all 13 games, recording 60 tackles with 5.5 tackles being for a loss, two sacks, two interceptions, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery.
