Tyrell McCrea (born October 22, 1984) is a former American football linebacker. He was a member of the Corpus Christi Sharks and New Orleans VooDoo.

College[edit]

McCrea was a linebacker at Angelo State University. McCrea started four seasons after taking a redshirt his first year on campus.

Although starting four seasons, he finished his college career by being named All-Lone Star Conference his senior year. McCrea also helped ASU baseball team to a NCAA Division II World Series berth in baseball.[1]

Professional career[edit]

Corpus Christi Sharks[edit]

McCrea went undrafted by the NFL and was signed as a free agent by the Corpus Christi Sharks of the af2 to play fullback and linebacker in June 2007. He spent a week with the Austin Wranglers of the AFL prior. McCrea started the last five games of the season and earned Defensive Player of the game twice. McCrea's best performance was against the Texas Copperheads where he finished with 4 tackles, sack, and a forced fumble for a 40-yard touchdown. During the summer, McCrea worked out for the Green Bay Packers. In November 2007, McCrea signed to play with the Sharks for another season.[2]

New Orleans VooDoo[edit]

In April 2011, McCrea signed with the New Orleans Voodoo of the Arena Football League.[3]
