Undungeon is an action role-playing game developed by the Ukraine-based studio Laughing Machines and to be published by tinyBuild.

Story[edit]

Undungeon takes place in the Multiverse. It consists of several parallel dimensions which means that every world that exists withing the Multiverse has several variations.

You take on the role of one of the Herald — representatives of different dimensions. The dimensions were destroyed by the mysterious Shift.

Gameplay[edit]

You are set to explore a map that is procedurally-generated. It is divided into regions that represent various worlds. Dialogs, combat and trading are the core mechanics of the game.

Combat[edit]

Undungeon combat is real-time. You are able to use various items that help you gain the upper hand in battles. They can be combined.

Visuals[edit]

The world in Undungeon is observed by the player from the isometric view. Visuals are created using pixel art techniques.[1]

Development[edit]

Kickstarter campaign[edit]

In January 2017, a Kickstarter campaign for Undungeon started. The developers of the game, Laughing Machines, managed to pledge a needed amount of funds to aid the development. In February 2017, the project was declared funded.[2][3][4]

Demo version[edit]

On July 13, 2020, a free demo version for Undungeon was released on Steam. It lets you take on the role of Void, one of several playable characters called “Heralds”, each of whom represent their own dimension. In the beginning of the demo, Void crashes into an unknown deserted world full of hostile creatures.[5]

Undungeon Arena[edit]

On October 29, a standalone game in the Undungeon universe, Undungeon Arena, was released for free on Steam. It has its own multi-ending plot and two playable heroes to choose from. Arena was inspired by old school action/RPGs.[6]
