UpVPN is a Serverless VPN service by California based upvpn LLC.[1][2].
History
UpVPN was first launched on Hacker News on June 28, 2023[3], and later launched on Product Hunt on July 25, 2023[4]
Serverless VPN
UpVPN applies Serverless computing model to VPN using WireGuard protocol. In the context of a VPN, when a user requests a VPN connection a server is provisioned on a public cloud provider on-demand, the same server is de-provisioned when the user requests VPN disconnection. This enables cost optimization and efficient compute resource utilization because a server is only used when a user requests a VPN connection.
Features
UpVPN offers an open source desktop application for Windows, macOS and Linux along with a command line utility to manage VPN sessions.
UpVPN provisioned VPN servers can be used with official WireGuard client apps. The dashboard provides a history of past VPN sessions and data usage.
