Vanarama (Autorama UK Ltd) is an online credit broker specialising in personal and commercial vehicle leasing. Vanarama is a subsidiary of the Auto Trader Group..[1]

History

Vanarama was founded as a used vehicle retailer in 2004 by Andy Alderson under the name Autorama, before moving into B2B leasing of commercial vehicles in 2007 under the Vanarama brand name. Vanarama opened its first regional franchise in 2012 in North London. The business grew to 50 regional branches in the United Kingdom before the franchise programme ended in 2020.

In 2014 the business moved from its first premises in Cow Roast, Tring, to offices in Hemel Hempstead. This was followed shortly after by a move to a private building suitable for its growing workforce.[2][3]

In 2019 Vanarama began expanding its personal car leasing business[4] by providing a fully-online platform for leasing[5]

In 2022 Auto Trader Group plc, a British automotive classified advertising business, announced its intention to acquire Vanarama[6][7] as a means to enter the UK car leasing market. The £200m deal was subject to regulatory approval, which was granted in the summer of 2022.[8]

National League Sponsorship

In 2015 Vanarama became the principal sponsor of the National League[9] of English football (previously known as the Conference League). This sponsorship agreement[10] was renewed in 2021[11] for a reported £4 million[12] making Vanarama the league’s principal sponsor for 7 years, with the current agreement ending at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season.
