Varun Manian (born 8th May 1982) is an Indian real estate entrepreneur and former film producer. He is the Managing Director of Radiance Realty and Radiance Media Group. Radiance Realty is a property development firm involved in housing and commercial projects in the south India region and Tamil Nadu, India.[1]

Early Life and Education[edit]

Varun Manian was born in Mumbai on 8th May 1982 to Kishore Manian, an entrepreneur and Ranjini Manian, an author and founder CEO of Global Adjustments and Culturama Magazine.[2] He studied at Sishya School, Adyar and then pursued a bachelor’s degree in Business at New York University. Varun has 1 sister; Rohini Manian.

Career in real estate development[edit]

In 2004, Varun began working as an investment banker in New York. In 2005, he joined the family's construction business, then known as NAPC (National Asphalt Products & Construction) Ltd.[3]

In 2012, NAPC Ltd. was sold to French construction major Vinci.[4] After exiting from NAPC Ltd., Varun established two new companies titled Radiance Realty Developers India Ltd.[5] and Radiance Media Group. Radiance Realty is a property development firm involved in developing both affordable as well as luxury residential projects. Radiance Media Group is a film production company that has produced many Tamil films such as Vaayai Moodi Pesavum and Kaaviya Thalaivan. Both these companies are headquartered in Chennai, India.

In 2018, Manian under Radiance Realty launched HQ10, a coworking and private office space in Guindy, Chennai.[6][7]

Personal life[edit]

Varun is married to former magazine editor Kanikha Kumaran,[8] daughter of politician KPK Kumaran, a Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam party leader.

Social contributions[edit]

Varun is actively involved in the welfare of street dogs and stray animals. He has worked closely with noted animal activist Shravan Krishnan. The Manian family also contributed to the renovation of the Besant Animal Dispensary which rescues stray animals.

Manian supports athletes such as Chess grandmaster Rameshbabu Praggnanandhaa through Radiance Sports, an initiative that nurtures young sports talents.[9]
