Venturefest Expansion in the UK

Venturefest,[1] is an entrepreneurial festival for inventors, entrepreneurs and investors together with support members of the ecosystem that supports the nurturing and development of startups.

History

In 1998 Dr Peter Johnson, a British academic established Venturefest[2][3], helped by support from the Gatsby Charitable Foundation, Oxford County Council, IBM, Reuters, McKinsey, Grant Thornton, Powderject. Streams of activity were led by the Oxford Trust, Isis Innovation, Venture Capital Report, Fast Track 100 among others.

UK expansion

Nationally, Venturefest began growing in 2003, when a similar event was set up in Yorkshire. Later, in 2014, Venturefest Oxford inspired the formation of a Venturefest Network whereby annual networking events are held across the UK[1]. The Network has been endorsed by the former Prime Minister, David Cameron. In 2014, Venturefest Oxford began transitioning from being a one-day annual event to developing into a fully-fledged year-round forum of activities.
