Vishal Agarwal is a businessman, investment banker and infrastructure specialist currently living and working in Kenya. He is the Chairman and Chief Executive of Full Circle Africa. He is also the founder, board chair and governor of Capital Club East Africa. He has published a book, Give to Book, a senior's guide to navigating the corporate life.

Over the past decade, Vishal has been working in China in close quarters as a lead in high-level engagements in Africa and China. Some of his most significant deals include:

  • The Kenya-Uganda rail recession that made a mark as a major Bi-National Public Private Partnership in the transport sector in East Africa[1][2]
  • A public offering of Kengen (Kenya), Kenya's electricity generating company. A first of its kind.[3][4]
  • The acquisition of Telkom Kenya by France Telecom, the biggest foreign direct investment in Kenya at the time.

Background and education[edit]

Vishal was born in Bombay, India. He lived in Iran during the Iran-Iraq War and was later educated through his adolescence in the US where he attended the University of Arizona graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration & Management.

Career[edit]

Vishal started doing mass privatization deals in Eastern Europe after the fall of the Soviet Union in the mid-1990s. From there he moved to deals in Asia and the Indian sub-continent, besides doing some transactions in Central America in Nicaragua, Belize, Panama and Costa Rica.[5]

From 1993 to 1996, he worked as a Senior Consultant for Price Waterhouse in New York and Washington DC. He then worked as a Senior Executive from 1996 to 2004 in project finance, consulting, energy and utilities in the greater Boston area.

In 2004, he moved to Africa and served as a Senior Partner & Deals Leader for PwC Africa based in Kenya until 2014[6], before moving to General Electric Africa as the Managing Director of Project Development and Investments for SSA[7] until July 2017. [8]
