Vitamin A2 is a subcategory of vitamin A which is composed of several subforms, including the major one vitamin A1 in the form of retinol, retinyl esters, retinal, and provitamin A carotenoids, vitamin A2, the likely non-human-relevant vitamin A3,4,[1] and the newly postulated vitamin A5.[2]
Dehydroretinal (3,4-dehydroretinal) belongs to the group of vitamin A2 as a retinaldehyde form, besides the endogenously present 3,4-dehydroretinol (vitamin A2 alcohol), and 3,4-dehydroretinoic acid (vitamin A2 acid).[3][4]
