Vladislav Vladimirovich Sviblov – a Russian technology entrepreneur, top manager, venture investor and the principal shareholder of several Russian mining and circular economy companies including Highland Gold Mining Limited (HGML, Highland Gold), Ozernaya mining company and Ecopolis Corporation.
Biography[edit]
Sviblov was born in 1980.
He graduated from Moscow State University of Economics, Statistics and Informatics (MGUESI) with a degree in Finance and Credit in 2002. In 2006 Vladislav Sviblov became a PhD in economics having defended the thesis on the topic "The limit of the company's capitalization growth as a factor of investment decisions in the securities market".
He holds a large and diversified venture capital investment portfolio, including equity interest through funds managed by Phystech Ventures [1].
Career[edit]
Vladislav Sviblov started his career as a direct investment and M&A manager at Rosbuilding investment company in 2001. He left the company as a vice-president in 2006 to start his own technology business.
From 2007 till 2011 he was a co-founder and a head of the project of an innovative technology of underground leaching for nickel from silicate ores aimed at securing the availability of critical materials for clean energy transition [2].
In 2011, in conjunction with his business partners he set up The Foresight Ventures seed fund. In 2013 the Russian edition of Forbes included the fund in top-10 venture funds [3].
From 2014 to 2016 Vladislav Sviblov held the position of the Vice President for Investment at now Europe’s largest residential property developer PIK Group [4] which is currently one of the global leaders in the housing construction technologies [5].
In 2017 Sviblov co-founded and managed the Ecopolis Corporation, one of the few in the world and the only fully environmentally-friendly recycling complex in Russia processing the waste of electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE) [6]. Sviblov is currently the principal shareholder and the chairman of the company. In 2019 the firm’s net profit amounted to 40,5 mln rubles [7].
Vladislav Sviblov has been investing in the mining sector since 2017 [8].
In 2018 he became the key investor of the development project for one of the world’s largest zinc deposits [9] – Ozernoe polymetallic deposit in Buryatia [10]. By the end of 2021 the Sviblov’s companies consolidated the 100% shares of “Ozernaya mining company”.
In 2020 Vladislav Sviblov’s acquired the Uryumkan mining group in Transbaikalia with total reserves of more than 100 tons of gold. Darasun, Darkhan, Talatyi [11] and other assets as well as many development projects were further consolidated in Highland Gold and transferred under the company’s management.
In summer 2020 Vladislav Sviblov acquired 40% of the share capital of then a London-listed Highland Gold Mining controlled by Roman Abramovich. By the end of 2020 Sviblov’s companies consolidated 100% shares of Highland Gold Mining and delisted it from AIM London Stock Exchange[12].
In 2021 Sviblov bought a controlling stake (51.2%) of Trans-Siberian Gold (TSG) from the UFG and its partners [13] while Mr. Sviblov joined the board of directors of TSG [14]. In summer 2021, Sviblov’s companies consolidated 100% TSG shares and also it from London’s AIM [15]. TSG Asacha gold mine in Kamchatka was merged into Highland Gold Mining in November 2021.
Highland Gold Mining managed by Sviblov acquired the largest gold producer in the Kamchatka region – “The Gold of Kamchatka” – in the autumn of 2021.
By the end of 2021 Sviblov consolidated the assets, which allow Highland Gold to enter top-5 Russian gold mining [16].
