Summary
Shot entirely in black and white, the 23-minute film centers on the La Quebrada Cliff Divers, using only voice-over narration[2] to reflect on their perilous profession, which involves ritualistic dives from 100 feet into the sea, at the Bay of Acapulco.[3] The film includes an original poem and striking slow-motion footage[4] that emphasizes the dangers faced by the performers.[5]
Release and reception
The film was part of the official selection of the 2025 San Francisco International Film Festival,[6] the 2025 Hot Docs Canadian International Documentary Festival,[7] and won the Best Documentary Short Award at the 2025 HollyShorts Film Festival.[8][9] It also recieved the Best Mexican Documentary Award at the 2025 Morelia International Film Festival[10] and the Best Iberoamerican Short Film Award at the 2025 Guadalajara International Film Festival.[11]
