Wes Collins (born 1960 in Lenoir, North Carolina) is an American singer-songwriter based in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. In 2015, he won the New Folk competition[1] at the Kerrville Folk Festival, along with Tom Meny, David Berkeley, Amy Kucharik, Anna Tivel, and Becky Warren. In addition to the New Folk competition win, Collins has been featured as a finalist in The Telluride Troubadour Contest[2] in Telluride, CO; The Songwriter's Serenade Competition[3] in Moravia, TX; and The Al Johnson Performing Songwriter Contest[4][5] held each year at the Wildflower Arts & Music Festival in Dallas, TX.

Author David Menconi says, "Collins’ songs feature elegant finger-picking, hook-filled arrangements and impeccable wordplay with neither a sound or a syllable out of place, everything fitting together perfectly."[6]

In 2017, Collins was awarded a North Carolina Arts Council Songwriting Fellowship[7]. North Carolina Arts Council says of Collins' music, “He credits many other singer/songwriters in his musical tent as inspiration, including Neil Finn, Gillian Welch, Bruce Cockburn and Patty Griffin, but Collins is well on his way to establishing his own voice as one we should value."[8]

All three of Wes Collins' albums have been produced by Chris Rosser at Hollow Reed Studios in Asheville, NC. The first, One Layer Down was released in 2013 and features performances by Jaimee Harris, Danny Gotham, Scott Damron, River Guerguerian, Chris Rosser, and FJ Ventre. Second album Welcome to The Ether, released in 2018, features guest performances by Jaimee Harris, Mary Bragg, Jon Shain, FJ Ventre, Scott Dameron, River Guerguerian, Chris Rosser, and Danny Gotham. The third album Jabberwockies, released June 2022, features performances by Scott Dameron, Pete Damore, Barry Gray, River Guerguerian, Crystal Hariu-Damore, Jaimee Harris, Franklin Keel, Chris Rosser, Matt Smith, and FJ Ventre.
