Wispr Flow is an American software company that develops voice dictation and transcription tools using artificial intelligence.[1][2] Founded in 2021 by Tanay Kothari and Sahaj Garg, the company is headquartered in San Francisco, California. Its software provides speech-to-text transcription across desktop and mobile platforms, using automatic speech recognition, large language models (LLMs), and natural language processing (NLP).
In 2024, Wispr Flow shifted its focus from hardware to software and launched its first speech dictation application for macOS.[3][4][5][6][7][8] The app enabled real-time transcription of spoken language. A Windows version followed in March 2025, and an iOS keyboard app was released in June 2025, supporting dictation across all iOS applications.[9][10][11]
The company raised $12 million in 2024, bringing its total pre-Series A funding to $26 million.[12][13][14] In 2024, Wispr Flow participated in the Amazon Web Services (AWS) Generative AI Accelerator program.[15][16]
In 2025, Wispr Flow completed a $30 million Series A funding round led by Menlo Ventures,[9] with participation from New Enterprise Associates, 8VC, and angel investors including Evan Sharp, Henry Ward, Kenneth Schlenker, and Flo Crivelli.[17][18][19][20][21][22][23]
In 2025, the Wispr Flow released a Windows version of the application and an iOS app featuring a built-in keyboard that enables dictation across all applications on iOS devices.[24][25][26]
