Yapen people is a term for various ethnic groups that inhabit island of Yapen and the small islands nearby in Cenderawasih Bay. This group consists of 7 native ethnic groups and 3 settled ethnic groups, indigenous peoples such as Yawa Unat, Ampari, Busami, Arui Sai, Berbai, Pombawo, and "3W" (Wondau, Wondei, Wonawa), while the settled peoples such as Biak, Waropen, and Kurudu (Ampari and Biak assimilation).[2]
