Yoshiki Ohmura (born 1 March 1975) is the chief executive officer of Conquest Financial Partners AG, a Zurich based investment boutique, and Vesper Capital Management Ltd. He is also an amateur racing driver.
Early life[edit]
Yoshiki Ohmura was born on 1 March 1975 in Männedorf, Switzerland. He undertook his advanced education at Northwestern University from where he received a BA degree in economics.[1][2]
Career[edit]
Ohmura's early career was at SBC/UBS Warburg, where he was responsible for engineering and originating structured credit, fixed income and hybrid financial products. He was then managing director of the Institutional Product Development group at Kenmar Global Investment Management.[2]
He founded and managed Baer Alternative Solutions and Bank Julius Baer's Alternative Risk Trading group which were taken over by GAM[3][4] after which he became global head of the GAM Structured Investments group and general director of GAM Structured Investments Ltd.[2]
He is the chief executive officer of Conquest Financial Partners AG, a Zurich based investment boutique, and Vesper Capital Management Ltd, both part of Rubicon Financial Holding Ltd.[2]
In 2011, he spoke to the Financial Times to condemn the practices by which some banks gouged their clients for excessive fees and commissions.[5]
In 2016, Ohmura was named in The Times as party to a law suit in which it was alleged that he helped fellow banker Frederic Marino and others to plunder the Libya Africa Investment Portfolio (the Libyan sovereign wealth fund) for up to $20 million in secret commissions through a firm that Marino set up to manage the funds. Ohmura denied any wrongdoing.[6]
Motor racing[edit]
Ohmura is the founder and team leader of Squadra Corse Limited, a company which represents the interest of Rubicon Financial Group in motorsports and the car industry.[2] He drives for the Tatuus Formula Abarth for Squadra Corse and Tomcat Racing.[7] He competes in such series as Formula 2000 Light and Formula 2000 TOP.[8]
In 2012 and 2013 he was the coach for the Swiss Racing Team in the Swiss television show Make it Your Race.[2][9]
