Zaheer Ayub Baig (Urdu: ظہیرایوب بیگ; born 30 Jun 1956, CHP, HI) is a Pakistani health physicist who is currently serving as Chairman of the Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority (PNRA).[1]

Biography[edit]

Baig attended the University of Punjab in Lahore where he graduated with Bachelor of Science (BSc) in physics and Master of Science (MSc) in physics in 1985 and certified in health physics from the Institute of Engineering and Applied Sciences in Islamabad.[2] He is a Fellow of Henry L. Stimson Centre, Washington D.C, United States and Present a [Research Paper] on Role Of Nuclear Energy In Pakistan’s Future Energy Mix.[3]

He also served as Director, Chairman's Secretariat, responsible for effective liaison with other governmental organizations and Authorities. He became Director General (Corporate) in 2011 and supervised activities of various directorates including Technical Support Organization of PNRA. He has provided consultancy work to the International Atomic Energy Agency in the areas of Review & Assessment of licensing submissions, Knowledge Management and Networks.He also played a pivotal role in the establishment of world class IT infra structure and IT services in Pakistan Nuclear Regulatory Authority.

In recognition of his contributions in the field of Science President of Pakistan has awarded him Hilal-e-Imtiaz[4]
