Zarif Aminyar

Zarif Aminyar (born 1982 in Kabul, Afghanistan) is an Afghan professor, politician, economist, author and activist. He is founder of The Economic Studies Organization of Afghanistan (TESOA).

He is the co-founder of Afghan Development Organization (ADO)[1] registered in Sacramento, CA where he helps refugees and immigrants to achieve self-sufficiency.

Early Life

Zarif Aminyar was born on 2 December 1982 in Kabul. He attended Government High School Pabbi, Nowshera. He completed his High School from Deh Arban High School in Kabul. He attended Pune University for his undergraduate studies in commerce under Indian Council for Cultural Relations (ICCR) Scholarship Scheme. Aminyar completed his Post Graduate degree in Islamic Banking and Insurance[2] from Institute of Islamic Banking and Insurance(IIBI), London, UK. He attended Anglia Ruskin University in the UK for his MBA. He completed his Level 8: Doctorate in Strategic Direction and Leadership from Chartered Management Institute(CMI), UK. He studied public leadership at The J.F. Kennedy School of Government, Harvard University and became a Harvard Kennedy School Executive Education Alumni. He achieved Alumni status from Columbia Business School after completing a leadership program in 2019. Aminyar is fluent in Pashto, Dari, English and Urdu.

Academic Career

Zarif Aminyar served on the Faculty of Rana University (2009-2010). He was appointed as a leadership professor to establish the Management and Leadership department of National Military Academy of Afghanistan(NMAA). He served as Vice-Chancellor Academics of Tolo-e-Aftb University (2010-2012). He served as Dy. Executive Director and Head of Academics for Afghanistan Institute of Banking and Finance (AIBF) (2013-2014). He served as Dean of the Economics Faculty at Rana University (2014-2015). He was invited to teach at Dunya University where he also served as Director of the Master Program and Dean of the Management Sciences Faculty. Aminyar served as Chancellor of Bayan Institute of Higher Education (2014-2016). He taught Advanced Leadership Concepts for the Master of Leadership and Management Program at Kabul Education University of Rabbani (2017).

Political Career

Zarif Aminyar belongs to a political family. President Hafizullah Amin and Abdur Rab Rasoul Sayaf are his close family members. Aminyar started his political career as an activist in 2003. He worked for President Ashraf Ghani's campaign in 2014. He supported Ashraf Ghani in the 2019 Presidential Elections and worked as a political strategist for his campaign.[8]

Aminyar appears on TVs as a political analyst. He promotes democracy, rule of law, anti-corruption[9], justice and women's rights. He believes Pakistan has been destabilizing Afghanistan by harboring terrorists and by seeking strategic depth. He accused Iran of interfering in Afghanistan’s affairs and undermining the Afghan economy by spreading instability. [10] Aminyar is a long-time critic of the U.S. policy in Afghanistan; he wrote an article, “Why the U.S. failed in Afghanistan[11],” where he criticized the U.S. policy for not ending the war in Afghanistan. Aminyar has been fighting against the Taliban’s ideology and believes that the Taliban are influenced by Pakistan and are responsible for killing innocent people and destroying many public facilities.[12] He is anti-warlords and considers them responsible for internal war and ongoing conflicts in Afghanistan.

Zarif Aminyar published several books on economics, history and politics. His popular books are “Fundamentals of Accounting, Financial Management, Principles of Islamic Banking, Introduction to Contemporary Management, Amanullah Khan: The Hero of Independence and Modernization[13], Financial Statement Analysis, A Primer on Prohibition of Riba in Islam”.

He writes for Eurasiareview[14][15][16][17], South Asia Journal[18] and many leading Afghan papers and journals on politics and economics. He has been appearing in numerous national media outlets such as Arian News[19][20][21][22][23], Shamshad TV[24][25][26][27], Khurshid TV[28][29][30][31][32][33][34][35][36] and others.
