Zydaan Siddiqi (siːˈdiːki; born June 02, 2002[1]) is an American internet entrepreneur and full-stack developer. He is the founder, CEO, and E-Learning Developer at Asclepius Academy; founder of COVID-19 Live Updates; and former Chief Technology Officer of DeCarbonNode. Siddiqi gained worldwide prominence for programming one of the most thorough tracking sites for the spread of SARS-CoV-2 — the virus that causes COVID-19[2] — at the age of seventeen.[3]

Early life[edit]

Childhood and family[edit]

Zydaan Siddiqi was born on June 02, 2002, in the United States.[4] Siddiqi is related to e-commerce and sustainability entrepreneur Rushdi Siddiqui,[5] Co-Founder & CEO of Zilzar Tehnology; Founder World Waqf Day.[6]

Education[edit]

Siddiqi graduated from Rowmark Ski Academy/St. Mark’s School in 2020, where he raced for the academy’s ski racing team in giant slalom, and was varsity captain of the mens golf team.[7]

While in his senior year, Siddiqi launched his website, covid19liveupdates.org, the platform that has gained millions of visitors.[8] Siddiqi continued his academic studies amidst the COVID-19 pandemic by matriculating to The University of Utah, where he is majoring in Data Science, while pursuing a minor in Public Health. Siddiqi is a member of The Utah Chapter of Triangle Fraternity at his college.[9][10] He is a supporter of online learning, where he is a continuing education (CE) student at Stanford's CME program as of early 2020.

Business Career[edit]

COVID-19 Live Updates[edit]

In late 2019, Siddiqi started his public health website, with his first post[11] containing information and data regarding The Wuhan Municipal Health Commission's first public service announcement concerning early indications of what was initially described as a pneumonia outbreak in the city.[12] In early March, Siddiqi launched his COVID-19 tracking site, called COVID-19 Live Updates (CLU). As of late-February 2022 over 456 million people have visited this website. His COVID-19 data and work has been recognized by industry experts, as in late-2021; November, Siddiqi presented to university and industry leaders[13] on recommendations he curated regarding the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529), a variant of SARS-CoV-2 (the virus that causes COVID-19) that was first reported to the World Health Organization (WHO) from South Africa on 24 November 2021. Siddiqi's real-time data visualizations have been featured on The Virginia Economic Development Partnership (VEDP GIS) site.[14] His site has over 650 pages of COVID-19 related data and a podcast, sponsored by Spotify's Anchor.[15]

Asclepius Academy[edit]

In mid-2020; June, Siddiqi launched a beta test of his Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) platform, called Asclepius Academy.[16] Siddiqi issues a statement on the sites landing page, stating that mental health and well-being are a forefront issue as lockdowns and quarantine ends in the U.S. The Academy, Siddiqi asserts was apart of a wide-innovation sprint conducted through The Stanford Graduate School of Business Rebuild 2020 Program. As of late-February 2022, nineteen free courses are available on the platform.[17] Courses from Asclepius Academy were featured on iPortal.Live course recommendations in late-2021.[18]
