The 10-Year Challenge is a trend on the American social networking website Facebook. [1] It began in January 2019 and involved people posting a photograph from 10 years earlier (2009) alongside a more recent photograph. [2]
According to Rebecca Jennings of Vox Media, the trend is believed to be a strategy developed by Facebook to help train facial recognition algorithms on age progression. [3]
