Career[edit]
First becoming known for his speedruns of Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island on the Super Nintendo, Carl achieved the world record in the "warpless any%" category at 1 hour 49 minutes 16 seconds on February 4, 2012[1] and again on Jun 18, 2012 with a record of 1 hour 49 minutes[2]. This record stood for a year until "zewing" accomplished a 1 hour 48 minute 40 second run on February 11, 2013.[3] On February 13, 2013, Carl created the first tool-assisted 100% speedrun of the game along with Lennart "Baxter" W. and "NxCy," completing the game in 1 hour 59 minutes. [4] In May 2013, Carl completed a "100%" run of Yoshi's Island in 2 hours 48 minutes on stream and in front of a live audience at Awesome Games Done Quick 2013.[5] On April 29, 2015 he achieved the world record for Yoshi's Island, completing the game in 2 minutes 57 seconds.[6]
On February 9, 2015, Carl achieved the world record for Super Mario World on the Super Nintendo at 1 hour 47 minutes[7] and again on February 18 at 1 hour 41 minutes.[8]. The record was unofficially broken on an emulator a month later by PangaeaPanga with a time of 1 hour 38 minutes.[9] In 2015 he accomplished the world record for the game at 1 minute 41 seconds.[10]
Today, he is better known as a player and level creator for Super Mario Maker. He has completed some of the most difficult user-created levels in the game, such as "Pit of Panga: P-Break" by PangaeaPanga.[11] He is also a frequent competitor and participator in the Games Done Quick charity events.[12] As of September 2018, Carl has over 140,000 followers on his Twitch.tv channel.[13]
