- 2016 New York and New Jersey bombings
- An explosion occurs in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan injuring 29 people. There is an ongoing investigation of a possible IED placed outside of a dumpster.[1]
- An explosion occurs in Seaside Park, New Jersey in a trash can, shortly before the USMC 5K run in the area. No injuries or fatalities are reported.[2]
- 2016 Minnesota mall stabbing
- A mass stabbing at Crossroads Center in St. Cloud, Minnesota, U.S., leaves fifteen injured. The suspect later dies inside the mall[3]
- ISIL-affiliated media wing Amaq News Agency claims responsibility for the act.[4]
