Local elections were held in Malabon on May 10, 2010 as part of the Philippine general election. Several local posts in the city were on the ballot, including the mayor, vice mayor, one representative, and the twelve councilors for the city's two Sangguniang Panglungsod districts (six for each district).[1]
Background[edit]
Incumbent Mayor Canuto Oreta sought his third and final term, ran unopposed.
Incumbent Vice Mayor Arnold Vicencio, son of former Mayor Amado Vicencio Sr., ran as representative. His place are contested by Antolin Oreta III, nephew of Mayor Canuto Oreta and son of former Rep. Tessie Aquino-Oreta, and Ma. Lourdes Yambao.
Incumbent Rep. Josephine Veronique "Jaye" Lacson-Noel sought her first full term after winning from electoral protest to Alvin Sandoval in 2009. She will be challenged by incumbent Vice Mayor Arnold Vicencio, former Rep. Federico Sandoval II, and Mark Allan Jay Yambao, sister of incumbent Second District Councilor Ma. Anna Lizza "Leslie" Yambao.
